R&D+i GastroLab Ricardo Fuentes-La Cabaña

A space for designing the food of the future.

Innovation is one of the fundamental mainstays of our activity. That commitment has enabled us to become what we are today, trailblazers in both processes and tools. This spirit of being one step ahead has become a reality in specific projects. One of the most recent is the R&D+i GastroLab we opened in Finca Buenavista in 2019 together with La Cabaña and 2 Michelin starred Chef Pablo González.

The GastroLab is the only one of its kind in Spain and works with new flavours, products and formats based on locally sourced raw ingredients as well as our bluefin tuna and salted fish products.

Equipped with the latest technology and resources, the primary role of this R&D centre is to conduct research, disseminate gastronomy knowledge, implement new culinary techniques and develop new products.

The human team led by Pablo González is made up of people with a range of talents. They include Cartagena-born chef Adrián Costa who, after training in Catalonia, returned to Murcia to be part of this unique project. “It’s an exciting project that helps us keep the region’s gastronomy growing. Innovation is at the heart of what we do and having a space of this kind is vital for working not only on what we offer today, but on what we need to do tomorrow” explains Pablo González.

The GastroLab is also open to other chefs and can serve as a training classroom, tasting space or gastronomy venue for launching new products or events.

New ultra-cycling team Cartagena-Ricardo Fuentes Group

The new ultra-cycling team Cartagena-Ricardo Fuentes Group is already in training for their first challenge. After having to adapt their season because of the state of alarm in Spain and several of their scheduled races being cancelled, the four team members, Pepe Uribe, Jorge Cebrián, Pedro Cayuela and Carles Ros, have already set their next goal: a quadruple Everesting.

Ricardo Fuentes is now the main sponsor of Valverde Team

From January 1, we will be putting our name to the Valverde Team, a cycling club named after Alejandro Valverde. This means that all the teams involved in the cycling club will be renamed Valverde Team-Ricardo Fuentes and our company logo will be given pride of place on the club kit designed by Inverse.

This action is part of the social commitment that Ricardo Fuente has been promoting over the last few years, especially showing our involvement in sport with actions such as our active partnership with FC Cartagena and the creation of the ultra-cycling team Cartagena-Ricardo Fuentes Group.

This is a training and development project, with the ultimate aim of providing the opportunity for all talented sportspeople to become professionals. Examples include José María García from Mula, Ecuadorian Benjamín Quinteros and Brazilian Vinicius Rangel, all with a track record in the Valverde Team and who will be riding in pro category teams in 2022.
